Carri Leto Martin

Carri Leto Martin is a lifelong athlete who understands
the ins and outs of college sports. Her background is rooted in athletics and her passion is elevating female athletes to new heights.


A native of San Diego, CA, Carri played four years of Division I softball at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL from 2000-2004 where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies. She was a four-year starter as the Wildcats’ second basewoman and leadoff hitter and captained the team her junior and senior years. While at NU, she was named the NCAA Woman Athlete of the Year in 2004. In addition to garnering All-Big Ten, NFCA Regional All-American and Academic All-Big Ten honors, she was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and Northwestern University’s Dean’s List. Carri was the first Northwestern female athlete to play for a professional franchise when she was drafted into the National Pro Fastpitch League (NPF).

Carri played five seasons in the NPF for the New York/New Jersey Juggernaut, Philadelphia Force and New England Riptide. She was a member of the 2004 NPF World Series Championship team, a three-time selection to the NPF All-Star Team and was the 2006 NPF Defensive Player of the Year. While playing professionally, Carri was a marquee player for all television, radio and print media as well as multi-media interviews and appeared on TV and marketing commercials to endorse her teams and the league. She helped conduct Major League Baseball clinics to promote fan development.

Carri coached at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA from 2006-2012 where she earned her Master’s in Education, concentrating in Human Development and Psychology. As the lead assistant for six seasons, she helped guide the team to four Ivy League championships and assisted in developing several players into All-Ivy selections. As the recruiting coordinator for the program, Carri was in charge of contact with and evaluation of prospective student-athletes and worked closely with admissions and financial aid regarding student-athletes’ admittance and overall fit at the university. She was also responsible for all team travel coordination, helped with alumni outreach, conducted many clinics for fundraising, created the program’s recruiting database and was a member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. Carri was an Academic Advisor for incoming Harvard freshmen, helping them set their class schedules and evaluating the rigor of their academic load.

Recently, Carri was the Athletics Marketing Coordinator and an Academic Advisor for Crimson Education, the world’s leading university admissions support company. At Crimson, she worked closely with students and their families who had incredibly high academic aspirations for college. She was the feature speaker on monthly webinars, giving expert advice to high school athletes with goals of playing at the next level.

Carri was invited to two U.S. Olympic softball team tryouts and was inducted into the Valhalla High School Hall of Fame in El Cajon, California. She is heavily involved in her community and has served on the board of many of her children’s school committees. Carri currently resides in San Diego, California with her husband, JD Martin, a former collegiate and professional soccer player, and their three children.
